Bluffdale and Holladay residents were without power for part of Sunday night after two separate outages in the Salt Lake Valley.

The Bluffdale outage was caused when a car hit a guy wire near 9000 South and 700 West. The wire snapped, flew into the air and became entangled in a 46,000-volt power line connected to the Bluffdale substation, Utah Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen said.

Power in Bluffdale from 12700 South to 14000 South and 400 West to 3300 West was out from 8:43 p.m. to 9:41 p.m., Eskelsen said.

In Holladay, a broken insulator at the Casto substation near 5200 S. Wasatch Boulevard (3165 East) caused power outages from 3100 East to 3500 East and 4600 South to 5000 South. Power in that area was out from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.
